The individuals that left Brazil on a definitive basis during calendar year 2018 have until this February 28 to file the so called exit communication (Comunicado de Saída Definitiva do País; CSDP), which corresponds to the formal communication that they have left the country, necessary to the change of their tax residency status.
The CSDC comprises the return that shall be filed between the exit date and the last day of February of the following year in which the exit took place, with the individual therefore becoming a non-resident.
This is important to note that the filing of the CSDP still requires the filing of the so called Exit Return (Declaração de Saída Definitiva do País; DSDP), which has a similar objective of the annual income tax return for individuals, in which they inform their income and assets’ variation between January 1 and the exit date. The deadline for filing the DSDP related to calendar year 2018 is April 30, 2019.
