A recent study from World Economic Forum (WEF) showcased São Paulo among world’s mega regions that are driving the global economy. São Paulo is in the 14th place in the list, with a population of 33,5 million, an economic output of USD780 billion and an economicoutput per capita of USD23,284. Yet, the largest city in Brazil is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere to make the list. The city was once heavily reliant on manufacturing and trade, but the city economy is now embracing its role as a nascent financial hub. The study link is below:
