In a paradox news to the taxpayers, which have been making hard efforts to implement the e-Social since its introduction in 2014, the Ministry of Finance informed on Thursday (July 9) that referred system , known as the social security/labor arm of the Brazilian Digital Bookkeeping System (SPED), will be extinct and replaced by another system on January 2020. From the negative side, we have the question on how much of the investments made in the system implementation so far will be lost, given that this is still unknown on how the layout of the new system will look like. From the positive side, such replacement has been communicated as one of the steps for reducing bureaucracy and rationalizing tax collection that were a pledge of the federal government and, in this sense, there were also announced a series of simplifications in the information to be reported by the taxpayers until September. Moreover, small and medium companies, which had some steps to be complied with over the next months will be no longer required to do so, and shall therefore wait for the new system.
