The 50th edition of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which is now as the global most important event for the Oil & Gas industry, took place in Houston last week. During such event it could be noted the increasing interest in opportunities in Brazil, what was highlighted by the largest participation of Brazilian companies and representatives in the last years. In such context of opportunities, especially in the second half of this year, we have the following hot topics: Downstream – the disinvestment plan of Petrobras refineries, which is aimed to reshape such area competitiveness, as well as the preparation of BR Distribuidora (Retail) IPO. Upstream – the auction of the exceeding volumes of the Libra field (related to the so called onerous cession), the new actions for the pre-salt (production sharing agreement agreements) and post-salt (concession regimes), as well the recently introduced permanent offer of areas by the Brazilian Petroleum Agency (ANP), with a highlight to the relevant number of mature fields that were recently claimed from Petrobras for such purpose. Additionally, there is still the expectation of the continued disinvestment plan of Petrobras, with likely focus on mature fields (such as the recent transactions with Equinor and Perenco, companies with experience in this areas in the North Sea), so as to concentrate efforts in the pre-salt development.
